No child should go hungry just because school is not in session. To address this problem during the 2017 Christmas Break, the Rotary Club of DeLand donated three hundred bags of food to needy students at Blue Lake, George Marks and Starke elementary schools in DeLand. Each bag contained peanut butter, soup, mac & cheese, juice, non-perishable milk, cereal, raisins, granola bars, applesauce, cookies and even toothbrushes! About twenty-five Rotarians, family members, friends and Interact students gathered December 18 at The Neighborhood Center to assemble the bags for our First Annual Feeding Local Kids Project.
